Diuretics Serve Other Functions

Filed under: Women's Health — Vanessa Youngstrom @ 2:48 pm

Over the counter diuretics are not common due to the potential for abuse but there is a diuretic which is commonly used by women for fluid retention during menstruation. Some people mistakenly think that water weight loss is the same as actual body weight loss and using diuretics to achieve this weight loss is extremely dangerous and should be avoided as it often results in the body retaining excess fluid while the medications could possibly damage the kidneys.

Naturopathic Physicians use Non-Toxic Treatments for Uterine Cancer

Filed under: Women's Health — Vanessa Youngstrom @ 10:28 am

Naturopathic physicians use non-toxic, natural alternative treatments and therapies which supports the person as a whole, they don’t only focus on one facet of the disease treatment (like in the Western medical procedures) and always look to minimize the harmful effects by applying the least force possible in boosting the immune system. Scientific and time tested therapies include botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, classical Chinese medicine, environmental medicine, hydrotherapy and minor surgery thereby resulting in a natural environment which promotes self healing in the body.

Another alternative treatment is immunotherapy in conjunction with a multidisciplinary approach which involves physical therapists, nutritionists, dieticians, naturopathic physicians and immunizations (to boost immune systems).

High Blood Pressure the ‘Silent Killer’

Filed under: Women's Health — Vanessa Youngstrom @ 10:27 am

High risk factors for developing high blood pressure can be poor diet, obesity, alcohol, smoking and a lack of exercise. Natural effective ways to reduce high blood pressure would be to start exercising, weight loss, proper diet control, stop smoking and avoid alcohol. Healthy diets should always include vegetables and fruits. Salt should be drastically reduced in order to decrease water retention – the more fluids that the heart needs to pump, the higher the blood pressure levels will be.

Yoga and meditation are two excellent ways to complement a weight loss program in an effort to reduce high blood pressure. Yoga and meditation help in strengthening the body and in lowering stress.

Don’t Confuse Milk Allergies with Being Lactose Intolerant

Filed under: Women's Health — Vanessa Youngstrom @ 10:27 am

Infant milk allergies are caused by proteins found in cow’s milk and not the breast milk of a mother. Women whose babies suffer from this allergy should reduce their own intake of milk since this milk protein is passed directly onto the baby through the mothers breast milk. This allergy should not be confused with being lactose intolerant which is an adverse reaction to milk sugar present in sheep, goat and cow’s milk. Many adults also suffer from this.

Filed under: Women's Health — Vanessa Youngstrom @ 10:26 am

Proper diets are critical for successful natural treatments. Most patients get relief from this disease by avoiding the following yeast, wheat and milk. Research shows that proper intakes of Omega-6 fatty acids (sesame seed, corn oil ) and Omega-3fatty acids (Flaxseed oil, fatty fish such as trout and salmon) lower the risk of developing Crohn’s disease and helps improve the chances of attaining remission. A well balanced oil which contains Omega-3, 6, and 9, is Hemp oil – its anti-inflammatory properties impacts positively on the inflammatory processes if taken daily (initially one teaspoon, steadily increasing it to one tablespoon).
