Water is our greatest ally. Our bodies depend on it, are composed of it, and use it for many necessary biochemical and enzymatic reactions and pathways. It is the medium to flush toxins from our system (consider that many people get headaches if they are dehydrated). Water is as integral to our bodies as it is to our planet.
The single most beneficial thing you can do to promote health is to drink adequate water. A general rule of thumb is to drink half the number of pounds you weigh in ounces. For example, if you weigh 120 pounds you would drink 60 ounces of water per day. This means water, not tea or coffee. It is also good to keep in mind that some beverages such as coffee and beer are diuretics so it is good to drink even more water if you indulge in them. A simple way to insure you get enough water is to fill a quart jar in the morning and know that you need to drink 2 or 3 of those jars by bedtime. ( 32 ounces equals one quart of water….)
