How to Protect Your Energy

One of the things that people often get caught up in is an energetic tangle they are not aware of. What I mean by this is that these people do not know how to protect their own energy. They don’t know how to distinguish between their energy and someone else’s. Pretty much, they have their energy wires crisscrossed with others.

For some people, they are accustomed to taking on other people’s energy without realizing it. When you struggle with a chronic health issue, and even if you’re not, it’s important to determine if you need to protect your energy. Why? You might be an emotional sponge and not know it. And, if you’re sick, most likely you might have a breach in your energy boundaries by your need to save or rescue others.

To have a healthy energetic fence, it’s important to learn how to protect your energy. One of the examples I love comes from Dr. Judith Orloff’s work on emotional freedom and how one can protect one’s energy while being able to stay centered in a highly evolving and changing world.

She offers the following, in 4 Techniques to Protect Your Energy, which I believe speaks to so many, who at one point was an “emotional vampire” or was a victim of one.

“Since emotions such as fear, anger, and frustration are energies, you can potentially “catch” them from people without realizing it. If you tend to be an emotional sponge, it’s vital to know how to avoid taking on an individual’s negative emotions or the free-floating kind in crowds. Another twist is that chronic anxiety, depression, or stress can turn you into an emotional sponge by wearing down your defenses. Suddenly, you become hyper-attuned to others, especially those with similar pain. That’s how empathy works; we zero in on hot-button issues that are unresolved in ourselves.”

What’s interesting about this, as you can see, is that, if you don’t protect your energy, and you just keep on taking what isn’t yours, it wears down your defenses, and in the long run, your body becomes susceptible and a breeding ground for foreign invaders or unwelcomed guests to come in and take residence in your body.

The more you do that, well, guess what, pretty soon, you sort of give up your power to some external factor because you can’t even tell the difference between your energy and someone else’s. Moreover, when you’re at the point where you’re totally spent on taking on other people’s energies, you don’t have enough energy of your own to heal yourself.

If you find yourself in this role, don’t fret. Lots of people do this without realizing it especially if these people are highly emotional or sensitive. Many of them often easily get triggered.

As Dr. Orloff states, “we zero in on hot-button issues that are unresolved in ourselves.” That’s why, sometimes, you get all worked up when someone says something even if there is no ill intention behind it, but to you, you felt a charge. That’s because there is something within you that is unresolved and until you heal that aspect, you will continue, and I repeat, you will continue to get triggered by that hot-button topic and become a hot energetic mess.

But, for those who have walked before you, and those who were in your shoes at one point, they, too, had to learn to undo the energy tangle to free themselves from the mess and start on the path towards emotional freedom again.

If you find yourself in that energetic web, it’s time that you free yourself, don’t you think? Here are some ways on how to protect your energy.

Ask yourself: Is this energy yours or someone else’s? Determine whether the energy is yours or someone else’s through muscle-testing. For example, in a QT session, if a practitioner finds a nonphysical field, meaning something emotional or traumatic, they will often ask if the nonphysical field, energy, or belief belongs to you or someone else. If it’s someone else’s, practitioners can help you quickly release that because there isn’t anything you can do with someone else’s stuff. If it’s your stuff, it can be cleared too, but sometimes, you might have a bit of conscious work to do. However, the more you can separate your energy from others, the better able you are to maintain your own energy boundaries.

Shield yourself energetically. Another way you can protect your energy is something you can do every day. In the video, How to Protect Your Energy, QT practitioner Jody King-Colegrove shows you a very simple technique you can do on yourself that acts as an energy shield to protect you from all sorts of energy vulnerabilities and how to have an abundance of energy each day. This technique, which is called the spider-man suit, will help you “keep the energy that you have and also not let other people take your energy so that you can deal with certain situations you might have,” says King-Colegrove.

She added:

“It’s amazing how you can use this, when you’re going into meetings, or having to talk to somebody on the phone; also, if your office kind of takes some of your energy, you can make an intention to put that on [the spider-man suit] before you go to the office in the morning or if you’re home, kind of zapped some of your energy, you can put it on when you go home; also, if you talk with relatives or dealing with your parents or anything like that. So this is really a way to help empower you so that people don’t take your energy and your energy doesn’t get lost throughout the day.”

Center yourself using the Profound Love code. Dr. Orloff says that negative emotions can get stuck in your solar plexus. She recommends that you “place your palm there as you keep sending loving-kindness to that area to flush stress out.” Here’s my adapted version of doing that. What you can do is get into a safe space where you can relax and can be still for a few moments. Place your palm over your solar plexus and then read the Profound Love code. If it helps, place that code on your solar plexus while you have your eyes closed and imagine the Divine light filling your solar plexus with love.

You will find that as you practice these simple techniques, you can protect your energy and you will learn to strengthen your field so that you don’t unknowingly take on what’s not yours.
